Her mother, Bernadetta, who lived to 91, never lost sight of own parents’ Italian traditions.

Simas calls it “pre-death work”, that being the grief patients begin to feel while processing news of their diagnosis, as well as dealing with pain management, coping with symptoms and maintaining quality of life.
